My 1st USA trip - Denver March 2011

The ride from Adelaide - Sydney - Los Angeles - Denver was my longest flight so far. Although the crews of United Airline were friendly and nice, the limited space in front of the seat is making it hard to breath and zzzz.
Didn't have much sleep from Sydney to LA. To make it worse, I was sitting in the middle of the 3 seats, it's hard to get to the toilet and the one sitting on the right is a bigger size person.

Oh well...I still make it to LA, but not with other unexpected problems!!! (I'll leave that part out)

Because of the UNEXPECTED problem, I only reached my sort of backpacker hostel in Denver at 10-11PM instead of 5PM (USA is not good at backpacker hostel, they have more motels and hotels somehow).

Denver is the largest city and capital of the Colorado State where the part of the Rockies are located.  Colorado is the only U.S. state that lies entirely above 1,000 meters (3,281 ft) elevation.

Thus, Denver is also nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile or 5,280 feet (1,609.344 m) above sea level (wikipedia) making it average 12C to -2C in March.

The "backpacker" hostel was near the downtown of Denver but a bit at the fringe, which somehow I don't understand what courage got me to book a place like that. The backpacker hostel was recently renovated but still doesn't look decent, but oh well....I got a bed. There's no kitchen though. That night I didn't had much sleep due to the hostel being too near to pubs and clubs (right behind the hostel) and there was a fight between two gangs with swearing here and there until the police came to manage the chaos at 3-4AM.

The 1st attraction I visited that night in freezing cold winter was the state capitol which is really pretty with all the lightings.

The crossroad outside my hostel early morning.

Denver Art Museum
Though I didn't went in due to shortage of time

Can't remember what this is anymore, haha.

The park in front of the state capitol

These guys were playing some sort of ball game on bikes that I never seen!!!

State capitol on one end (east)

And County building on the other end (west)

I must say I found it rather amusing the 1st time I saw gas bursting out of the sewer in the middle of the road, haha.

16th Street Mall
Shop and eat till you drop. There's a tram line that service this area to the train station at the very end.

My dinner which I probably tipped for the 1st time!!! But they did serve me well, haha.
Always asking you do you like the food? do you need anything else?

All in all Denver was a nice place
