My 1st USA trip: Stanford University

I'm here @
Stanford University!!!

One of the most prestigious university in the world.
Ranked World no. 2 among all the universities!!!
Founded in 1891 by railway tycoon Leland Stanford in remembrance of his son, who died aged 16, Stanford is said to be, after Harvard, the US' most selective university, accepting around 7 per cent of applicants. Its alumni founded corporate giants including Hewlett-Packard and Google. The world's third-richest university, it teaches about 7,000 undergraduate and around 4,000 graduate students.

One thing I like bout the uni is it's close proximity between buildings

Some species of redwood trees

Well, I only visited the school of medicine to visit some labs

But I really like how they decorated the pathways showing the timeline of molecular and cell biology technologies cum discoveries

Beckman coulter building - where all the flow cytometry technology began!!!
A cell sorting technology that made major breakthrough in cell biology
A technology I love and used alot, haha.

Institute of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine
A place where I can probably dream of working,
all the well-known scientist
all the major discoveries
all the big labs

A corner of the toilet inside the Institute of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine!!!
Love it, haha

The hanging deco was inspired by the DNA double helix!!

Inside the beckman building, to get a glimpse of the lab and father behind the brainchild of flow cytometry!!
Yes, I saw them both husband and wife,
but was too shy to initiate a chat, haha

Timeline of the flow cytometry techonology

A walk around the campus,
although it doesn't look like cambridge or oxford with very old-style buildings
but the place was pretty and huge.

Bikes are a major transportation here
Really love how you can ride your bike when doing your studies or working here compared to UM =.=

Stanford memorial church

Palm trees lined the walkway

The famous clock tower of Stanford, hoover tower
One of the prominent structure within the uni
The tower houses the Hoover Institution Library and Archives, an archive collection founded by Herbert Hoover before he became the 31st President of the United States. Hoover had amassed a large collection of materials related to early 20th century history and donated them to Stanford uni.

The street of Palo Alto

A day at Stanford really open my eyes of what is top class leading research university!!!
